In the next session we will look at new possibilities for collaborative making:

Open Design City is at it's simplest a space for making things. As a space it is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of the community and create opportunities and provocations to engage people in production processes, new skills and collaborations.

In this presentation Jay Cousins, one of the co-founders of Open Design City will present some outcomes from the prototype city of the future (DMY Maker Lab), and invite propositions for projects, workshops and skills exchange that can take place within the City walls.

Everybody is welcome, specially those that are looking for spaces to make, in an open way.

Wednesday 30th of June, @ 19:30. Open Design City, Prinzessinnenstraße 19-20, 10969 Berlin

Dear People

In our search for new ways of learning and sharing ideas and projects We wants to enable a knowledge exchange colloquium in Berlin.

Our objective is to develop a space where we can share ideas, projects and experiences with each other, to build upon each other’s knowledge. Ultimately, making these connections will help our personal development.

The event will be scheduled every fortnight and we want to bring a new person to every meeting, whom can share an interesting project they’re working on in Berlin. At the moment the structure and body of the event is open so that it can evolve according to needs. In the future we hope that it acts as a hub for creative teams to form and work.

This first event will be mainly to get to know each other and find out what everybody is doing, so it should be an interesting evening. It’ll take place at the Open Design City, Prinzessinnenstraße 19-2, U-bahn Moritz Pltz.

Wednesday 2nd of June 2010.

You are all invited

We continue to share our knowledge, skills and visions.

Shaping CITYzenship:

" Nowadays Berlin is one of the most attractive capital city, matter of fact proved by the continuous “exodus” of young and enthusiastic people. The availability of empty and relatively cheap spaces, the thousands pressing advertisement campaigns and the extremely multicultural and international environment, define its atmosphere of place “to become”, where creativity and innovation are possible and more than welcome. But what are the reasons of this peculiar development? Is it still a reality or is an inheritance that will come to an end? And how do citizens commit themselves in their surrounding environment?

These are the core questions behind the project “Shaping CITYzenship”. The aim is to explore through different methods the relations among these elements: people, spaces and images.
The project is a on-going research, it could be defined as an open “box” that wait to be filled by whoever feels to contribute or is somehow involved in this re-shaping process of the city.

During the meeting would be presented some of the outcomes collected and produced so far. But at the same time would be address further questions about its future developments. So bring your ideas and your experience: sharing and know-how exchange are the key words."

Dear people

We'd like to invite you to join us at the DMY Maker Lab, a collaborative design space during the DMY Festival in Berlin, June 9-13, to explore maker culture and open design through practice, presentations, and collaborative action, created by instigators and participants alike.

At the Maker Lab, we'll be hosting various stations for participants to learn, play and build upon the design of others. With an array of technologies and tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, bio plastics, Arduino and other do-it-yourself technologies, participants will learn about design processes and concepts together.

At the center of the event is a Mindscape, a discussion cluster featuring workshops, sessions, and conversations about open design. Most of all, we welcome you to stop by and share your thoughts, even plan a session spontaneously using our open space format. Topics could include new collaboration methods, the future of open design, business models, as well as sharing skills on specific design processes.

From this point of inspiration along with instructions, demonstrations and workshops, we invite you to engage with the space, tools, processes and people. To create together, participating in our numerous activities, or even instigating your own.

We would be thrilled if you would like stop by, lead a discussion, or share a skill, run a workshop, or begin a collaborative project at the Maker Lab.
